Crisis Prevention and Recovery

As well as being vulnerable to a number of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and rock/landslides, a large geographical area of Yemen is affected by landmines. Currently the Government of Yemen lacks adequate national capacities to effectively address and manage both man-made and natural crises.

From this standpoint, UNDP assists Yemen in clearing mines from the most affected areas and rehabilitating lands so they can be made available to communities for productive use, thereby boosting economic growth and reducing rural poverty.

Furthermore, UNDP aims to develop the capacity of concerned authorities and institutions in the area of disaster preparedness, disaster management and contingency planning, establishing the necessary conditions to prevent and limit the impact of disasters.

The following are some UNDP projects that aim to help Yemen prevent and recover from crises:

Service Line 4.2: Reduce risk and impact of natural and man-made disasters to enhance national security and stable of economic growth
